Maintaining a blog with new and exciting content takes a lot of effort and commitment. One of the most common things that we hear from our clients is that they don’t have a company blog or newsletter because they don’t have the time and they struggle to come up with bright, new ideas that will really engage their audience.

Here are 7 content ideas to help you get started!

  1. The latest news or trends in your industry

People love to know that they’ve got the inside scoop! A great way to position yourself as a thought leader within your industry is by sharing the latest news or trends. You could share your thoughts on a particular trend and include some projections on what you think may happen in the future. Think about the latest technologies, events, products, or tools that are making a significant impact on your industry and how they could offer value to your audience.

  1. Educational Videos

Video is fast becoming one of the most popular choices in digital marketing. In fact, statistics show that 70% of companies are including video in their marketing strategies this year.  Video is an extremely effective way to present content when done correctly. Keep them short, only 2- 3 minutes in length, and allow yourself or members of your team to demonstrate their knowledge and expertise in their field while breathing life into your brand!

  1. Whitepapers & eBooks

Whitepapers & eBooks are generally a significant amount of content created as a PDF. They’re often a downloadable product on your website or can be offered free in exchange for details such as their email address to follow your blog! By creating a whitepaper or eBook this helps to strengthen your authority within your industry and is a great way to show in depth knowledge and passion on a particular topic. Remember to include good design, images and colour to engage your audience.

  1. Share Resources

It’s important to offer value or reward your audience. Begin to think about what tools could really help make your audience’s life easier. Share them in a list format and make it obvious that you’re adding value. Helpful resources are always worth including and will help you to attract traffic.

  1. Upcoming Events

Does your company have an event coming up or has someone in your team recently attended an industry event worth talking about? Share upcoming conferences, webinars, trade shows or open days along with who’s attending, the benefits and how they can get involved. Sharing events show that you have your finger on the pulse.

  1. Infographics

An infographic is a great way to communicate your content in a visual way. Statistics show that infographics get shared and viewed more than most other content marketing. One study found that infographics got shared and liked almost 3 times more than any content on social media. Use them to show an idea or concept, data or statistics.

  1. Review new products or services

By reviewing a new product or service within your industry this can help to establish leadership, authority and respect. All you really need to do is share your experiences with the product or service, outline the key features and then provide your recommendations. Why not even provide a live example. It’s important to keep in mind though that goal is to tell- not sell.

Those are just a few of the many content ideas that you could use for your next blog or newsletter. The more types of content that you include, the more powerful and effective your marketing becomes. Content regardless of its form communicates to an audience. That audience in turn should feel compelled to listen, learn, share and convert. By combining the above ideas I predict that you’ll immediately see a difference in your marketing efforts- new traffic, targeted visitors, enhanced search engine optimisation and higher conversion rates.
